Canopy Systems
Up-and-over garage doors can be installed using one of two systems – canopy or retractable.
The canopy option relies on lifting gears that, once the door is open, swing back and slide the panel (or curtain) into the garage interior. As the name suggests, this then forms a canopy that leaves around one third of the door protruding from the front of the garage.
In the UK, this is one of the most popular type of doors as it is easy to install and comes in at an affordable price point.
Retractable Systems
At Superior Garage Doors we can also supply and install the retractable up-and-over garage door.
Employing folding lifting gears this option uses horizontal tracks – which are either suspended from the ceiling or fixed to the supporting garage walls – to mechanically retract once the door release is triggered.
